These black bean burgers have the ideal texture and are bursting with flavor. They are a tasty and filling plant-based substitute for hamburgers.
Ingredients:
- 2 cans 15 oz each black beans, drained and rinsed
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup finely chopped onion
- 1/2 cup finely chopped bell pepper
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1/4 cup olive oil
Instructions:
In a large bowl, mash black beans with a fork or potato masher
Add breadcrumbs, chopped onion, chopped bell pepper, minced garlic, soy sauce, tomato paste, cumin, paprika, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and chopped cilantro to the mashed beans
Mix until well combined
Divide the mixture into 6 equal portions and shape into burger patties
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat
Cook the patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and cooked through
Serve the black bean burgers on buns with your favorite toppings and enjoy
